This week on the Foster Parent Podcast we opened with more information about our long term kids. With both parents out of the picture for a period of time the behavior of both kids was drastically improved, but it was a little rough getting there.
We learn that the DCPP only cares about the birth parents, it will force children to spend seven and a half hours in a car so that one parent can see his kids, rather than insist the father endures the travel time. It also doesn’t care a bit about foster family plans, as both our birthday parties were interrupted at the last minute. If you think that the system values the children or the people who care for them think again.
Sonya Hodgins is our news story tonight. As is the custom of the Foster Parent Podcast we go further into the story than just the article. In this case we ask why a convict sentenced to 15 years in prison should expect his toddler to put her childhood on home for him, call out the government for supporting this kidnapping, and then ask if any adopted child is safe from further abuse?
We will finish the show with our Inspirational Quote, a departure from our typical format, because the news is just too depressing to end up on this week.
